Teen Gets Life Sentence For Helping Girlfriend End Pregnancy 19-Year-Old Stepped On Stomach While Girl Punched Self POSTED: 7:44 am EDT June 7, 2005 LUFKIN, Texas -- A 19-year-old accused of causing his teenage girlfriend to miscarry two fetuses by stepping on her stomach was convicted Monday of two counts of murder. Gerardo Flores received an automatic life sentence because prosecutors did not seek the death penalty, which was available under the state's 2003 fetus protection law. Erica Basoria, 17, acknowledged asking Flores to help end her pregnancy; she could not be prosecuted because of her legal right to abortion. The defense contended that Basoria punched herself while Flores was stepping on her, making it impossible to tell who caused the miscarriage. Basoria told authorities that, after about four months of pregnancy, she regretted not getting an abortion and started jogging and hitting herself to induce a miscarriage. When her efforts failed, she said she asked her boyfriend to help. Flores did not testify, but earlier told police that he stepped on Basoria's stomach several times during the week before she miscarried. Prosecutor Art Bauereiss said most of Basoria's family was pleased with the jury's decision. But Basoria, who sobbed as she left the Angelina County Courthouse, had stood by Flores. "It's just tragedy all around," said Flores' attorney, Ryan Deaton. Texas law defines an embryo or fetus as an "individual" and allows criminal prosecution or civil action for a preventable injury or death of a fetus. The law exempts health care providers who perform a legal medical procedure, such as an abortion.
"So, aside from how backwards it is that a child has a legal right to live unless the mother decides otherwise, how is it possible that this kid got convicted of murder for doing for free what "health care providers" do for money? I could see charging him with practicing "medicine" without a license, but life imprisonment for what "doctors" are doing every day? Does anyone get how messed up this is? -stupendousman"

so sunday ender was dedicated. i'm not sure if everyone knows what that means, so...just that we are dedicating him to God and that we will raise ender to know him. but it was a mighty fun time getting ready for church and being late.
so ender has thrush-a baby thing-and he is on medicine for it. well, the outfit that he was going to wear was the outfit that danny wore for his baptism. i was all excited about the meaning and everything all girlie and mom-like. well, danny gave him his medicine for the first time and ender spit it out (to his defense, the medicine smells horrible, so it can't taste to good) so danny gave him more. i TOLD him not to because he always does that to me and i never give him more and it seems to be healing up well. but he did it anyway. and a few minutes later, ender sneezes, and out comes some of his breakfast. so danny changed him and i was all upset cause he couldn't wear the outfit. then while danny was zipping up the sleeper, he did it again, except he just threw up, a lot. so we changes his outfit AGAIN thus making us late for church and ender did not get to wear danny's outfit. LAME.
in other news, i was going through old pictures and i found one that i took. i don't think that it is a very good picture, but the subject and reason i took it is beautiful. this picture was taken after school when the hallways were empty, but this kid did this between every class, while there were kids walking by him. he was not ashamed, and i think that is so courageous and wonderful. i cried the first time i saw him do this. i wanted to get the picture in between classes, but it wouldda been way to crowed.

i love danny, and i don't care what other people say or think about him. he's the best. he's going to come home and we are going to kiss and then lay in bed and cuddle. and it will be great....
....until the baby cries, then we will get him and the three of us will cuddle. and some of you will wish that you could have made it this far. ha.

ok. i've held it in THIS long. and i can't anymore.
I'M GOING TO SEE STAR WARS TONIGHT
granted i'm not one of those die hard fans that has to dress up a princess leia or anything, but i would have felt like a total nerd if i made a big fuss about it earlier. but i just can't hold it in any longer.
in one hour and twenty-five minutes, i will be watching the futuristic haven they call star wars and you will be sitting at home, reading my live journal entry, envying me, because i am watching star wars, and you are not.
i'm sorry, but i have to rub it in, i have nothing else going on that people can be jealous of. killer.
